Thats some crazy stuff.
We bought a new camera. We have not used it yet for anything that can be posted on this website. We will soon.
Let's roll into this entry with some highlights since the last post.
Last Friday we attended Band Night. This is an event that we have wanted to attend for some time but due to some inclement weather we simply have not, UNTIL this year. We loaded the Vue up with chairs, coats, water and burgers from Good Times and found a sweet spot on North 6th street. Kelsen played along with his drum and very much enjoyed the bands.
Some random thoughts about Band Night.
Did you know that I played 1st trumpet in the first ever Band Night? (it was actualy called Doc Hill Band DAY back then). The song......Louie Louie. The school: Regent High. The RHS Marching Band was the "honoray" school for the 1st ever Band Day. You see Doctor Simon Hill delivered hundreds, if not thousands of babies in Regent. Not me of course but people with much more "life experience" than me.
There was this band which I think was called the "SW High School Marching Band" that appeared to have like 15 schools and 500 members. I am not exageratting. They combine bands like they do basketball teams in SW Nodak I guess. They had some many percussion they had like 10 kids playing tamborines!
St. Mary's High School got our vote for best "big school" band. Park River got my vote for best "small school" band.
Enough about bands, we have serious issues going on.
Mother's Day 2009 was a "hit". Raumi woke up to Kelsen and I cooking her breakfast in bed. After Church we went on a picnic and to the zoo, followed by a pedicure (with Holli and Lisa, a cache and a quiet evening at home. While at the zoo we found out that we had some train tickets left over from last season so Kelsen wanted to ride the train, so we did. While riding, the clouds let loose and it began to rain. Being that we were seated on the covered train we were immune to any droplettes of rain. But I couldn't resist thinking to myself that "riding the train" is fairly upper class while those poor souls who were standing in the rain with no cover were "peasants". (This people is how my mind works, I have no idea why, it just is). We ended the evening with a cache. We took the Gustafson's on a Geocahce along the Mandan side of the Missouri River. It was a nice hike on a even nicer evening. We found the cache and witnessed some new views of the river. Only 1 tick. Good times.
A question that has long been in the back of my brain is one that has stumped even the longest residing Mandan folk. The question has popped in my head repeatedly as to why the speed limit on the grounds of the Tesoro refinery is 19 mph. There has to be SOME significance to it, its just that no one seems to know. So if you know please let me in on this Mandan piece of history mystery.
We found backup Daycare. Hip Hip Hooray.
Cha Cha is a crazy fad. I am hooked. Check it out and soon you to, will be Cha Cha ing whenever you need a question answered or a bet settled. Kudos to DMV (Doctor Matt Voigt) for gettin me on board the Cha Cha wagon.
To steal a bit from DMV I decided that Kelsen needs to see as many playgrounds in the greater Bis/Man vicinity as possible. So as we conquer them we will review them through the eyes of a 3 year old. Sertoma #8 playground is the playground of the week. Nice playground, plenty to do, clean. Through the eyes of a 3 year old.."Mommy, are there spiders in here?"
Congratulations to Neil on his Graduation from NDSCS on Friday!!! We are proud of you Neil!
